We’ve gathered up some towns that are not only easy on your wallet, but incredibly safe as well. Using data from areavibes.com, I bring you 10 of the cheapest, greatest places to live in the Lone Star State.
With a population of only 48,220, this charming hill country town will make you feel right at home while still offering all the accessibility and amenities of a city. The low crime right, affordable housing and rental rates, and the overall quality of life earned Georgetown the top spot on our list.
Located 14 miles northeast of downtown Austin, this quaint German town hosts plenty of wonderful events that will get you connected with the community. The crime rate is 54% lower than the Texas average, and the median home price is $165,1000.

Another fairly small town located in the hill country, Cedar Park boasts a low crime rate, an average summer temperature of only 83 degrees, and a graduation rate of 93%.

A town of only 1,724 people, Salado is situated halfway between Austin and Waco. It is safer than 87% of Texas cities, has an income per capita of $53,809, and the median home value is 75% higher than the Texas average.
Round Rock recently made Livability.com's 2015 list of Best Affordable Cities in Texas. It's only a 25 minute drive to Austin, the crime rate is 35% lower than the state average, and the cost of living is 4.7% less than the national average. Sounds like hill country paradise to me!

With a population of just 15,882, Hutto offers all the luxuries of a big city with the advantages of a small town. The relatively low cost of living, exceptionally low crime rate, and its location in the scenic hill country make it a wonderful place to settle down and raise a family.

This community on the outskirts of Houston has just under 5,000 people, and the average commute time is just 25 minutes. The cost of living here is 5.5% less than the national average.
This is one of the larger cities on our list with just over 83,000 people, but its high graduation rates, high income per capita, sunny weather year round, and close proximity to both Houston and Galveston earned it a spot on our list.
